Anakota

Cabernet from the Wild Hills of Knights Valley

Anakota is a small, focused winery located in Knights Valley, a remote and rugged appellation in northern Sonoma County. The name “Anakota,” derived from a Native American word meaning “above all”, reflects both the elevated location of the vineyards and the ambition behind the project. The winery is dedicated entirely to expressing the distinctive character of this volcanic hillside terroir.

The vineyards are situated on steep slope sat elevations of around 200 to 400 meters above sea level. The soils are primarily volcanic, composed of fractured rock and iron-rich clay that naturally limit vine vigor and produce small, concentrated berries. Warm daytime temperatures are balanced by cooling influences from the nearby Pacific Ocean, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen fully while retaining structure and freshness.

Single-Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

Anakota focuses exclusively on Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from its estate vineyards in Knights Valley. The wines are produced as single-vineyard expressions, allowing the unique character of each site to be clearly reflected in the final wine.

Fermentation takes place in small lots to preserve the identity of each vineyard parcel. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, where they slowly develop depth and complexity while maintaining balance and structure.

The wines are known for their intensity and refinement. Aromas of cassis, blackberry and dark cherry are layered with notes of graphite, cocoa and subtle spice. Firm yet polished tannins provide structure, while fresh acidity gives the wines balance and longevity. Anakota produces Cabernet Sauvignon that captures the power and wild character of Knights Valley.
