Cabernet from the Wild Hills of Knights Valley
Anakota is a small, focused winery located in Knights Valley, a remote and rugged appellation in northern Sonoma County. The name “Anakota,” derived from a Native American word meaning “above all”, reflects both the elevated location of the vineyards and the ambition behind the project. The winery is dedicated entirely to expressing the distinctive character of this volcanic hillside terroir.
The vineyards are situated on steep slope sat elevations of around 200 to 400 meters above sea level. The soils are primarily volcanic, composed of fractured rock and iron-rich clay that naturally limit vine vigor and produce small, concentrated berries. Warm daytime temperatures are balanced by cooling influences from the nearby Pacific Ocean, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen fully while retaining structure and freshness.
