Caiarossa

Bordeaux meets Tuscany

Caiarossa is located in the hills of Riparbella on the Tuscan coast, in the Val di Cecina. The winery is owned by the same owner as Château Giscours and Château Tertre, Eric Jelgersma. Thee state sits between the Mediterranean Sea and the inland hills, where cooling maritime breezes and warm sunshine create ideal conditions for viticulture. Founded in the late 1990s, the estate has developed a strong reputation for producing elegant Tuscan wines with a clear sense of place.

The vineyards are planted between roughly 200 and 350 meters above sea level on a mosaic of soils that include clay, limestone, sandstone and iron-rich formations. This diversity allows each parcel to contribute its own character to the wines. Caiarossa has been farmed bio dynamically for many years, reflecting a philosophy that emphasizes soil health, balance in the vineyard and respect for the natural environment.

Mediterranean Blends with Precision

Caiarossa produces wines based on a blend of classic Bordeaux varieties alongside traditional Mediterranean grapes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah are complemented by varieties such as Sangiovese and Petit Verdot. The goal is to create wines that balance structure with freshness and reflect the unique conditions of the Tuscan coast.

Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled tanks, allowing careful management of extraction and aromatic development. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, where they gain complexity and integration while maintaining balance and elegance.

The resulting wines combine ripe darkfruit with floral and herbal notes typical of Mediterranean vineyards. Fine tannins and vibrant acidity provide structure and length. Caiarossa produces wines that unite the richness of the Tuscan coast with remarkable finesse and precision.
