Cardinale

The Art of Napa Valley Mountain Blends

Cardinale was founded with a singular vision: to craft a Cabernet Sauvignon that captures the complexity of NapaValley’s mountain vineyards. The winery focuses on fruit sourced from some ofthe region’s most renowned high-altitude sites, including areas such as Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder and Spring Mountain. These elevated vineyards producefruit with remarkable structure, concentration and aromatic intensity.

Mountain vineyards in Napa Valley are defined by steep slopes, rocky soils and cooler temperatures compared to the valley floor. These conditions naturally reduce yields and allow the grapes to develop thick skins and deep flavour concentration. At the same time, the altitude and cooler nights help preserve acidity, giving the wines both power and balance.

Cabernet Sauvignon with Structure and Elegance

Cardinale produces a single flagship wine built primarily around Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by small amounts of other Bordeaux varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The blending process is central to the philosophy of the winery, allowing different mountain sites to contribute their individual strengths to the final wine.

Fermentation takes place in small lots so that each vineyard parcel can be managed individually. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, where they develop depth, structure and complexity before the final blend is assembled.

The resulting wine is powerful yet refined. Aromas of cassis, blackberry and dark cherry are layered with notes of graphite, cedar and spice. On the palate the wine shows dense fruit, polished tannins and a long, structured finish. Cardinale produces a Napa Valley Cabernet that reflects the strength and elegance of the region’s mountain terroirs.
