Château Marsyas

Mediterranean Terroir in the Bekaa Valley

Château Marsyas is located in the southern Bekaa Valley of Lebanon, close to the Syrian border, where vineyards are planted at elevations of around 900 to 1,200 meters above sea level. The estate was founded by the Saadé family, who are also behind the renowned Château Bargylus project in Syria. With Château Marsyas, the family set out to highlight the remarkable potential of high-altitude viticulture in the Bekaa Valley.

The vineyards lie on limestone and claysoils, benefiting from warm sunny days and cool mountain nights. This strong diurnal temperature variation allows the grapes to ripen fully while preserving freshness and aromatic precision. The combination of altitude, Mediterranean climate and mineral-rich soils gives the wines both structure and elegance.

Structured Wines with Mediterranean Character

Château Marsyas focuses primarily onclassic Bordeaux varieties that have adapted exceptionally well to the BekaaValley. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot form the backbone of the estate’s red wines, creating blends that combine concentration with balance.

Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve fruit purity and ensure precise extraction. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, where they develop complexity and integration over time.

The resulting wines show ripe black fruit, cassis and plum layered with notes of spice, cedar and Mediterranean herbs. Firm yet polished tannins provide structure, while fresh acidity brings balance to the richness of the fruit. Château Marsyas produces wines that unite the warmth of the Mediterranean with the freshness that comes from high-altitude vineyards.
