A Benchmark of Puligny-Montrachet
Domaine Etienne Sauzet is one of the most revered estates of Puligny-Montrachet and a reference point for great white Burgundy. The domaine was founded in the early 20th century by Etienne Sauzetand has remained deeply tied to the village ever since. Today the estate is runby Benoît Riffault, who continues to refine the house style with a focus on precision and vineyard expression.
The domaine farms an exceptional collection of vineyards in and around Puligny-Montrachet. Holdings include village parcels as well as several prestigious Premier Crus such as Les Combettes, Champ-Canet and La Garenne, alongside Grand Crus including Bâtard-Montrachetand Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. The soils are dominated by limestone and marl, giving the wines their hallmark tension, mineral drive and remarkable ageing potential. Vineyard work is meticulous, with increasing emphasis on biodynamic practices to preserve soil vitality and terroir transparency.
