Domaine Moreau-Naudet

Continuity in Chablis

Domaine Moreau-Naudet is firmly rooted in Chablis and is today regarded as one of the region’s most respected contemporary estates. The domaine gained international recognition under Stéphane Moreau, whose uncompromising focus on vineyard precision and purity of expression elevated the house to a new level. Following his untimely passing in 2016, the estate has been led by his wife, Virginie Moreau, who continues his philosophy with the same discipline and clarity of vision.

The vineyards are planted on classic Kimmeridgian limestone soils, rich in fossilised marine sediments that form the geological backbone of Chablis. The domaine works parcels across village level and several Premier Crus, including Montmains, Forêts and Vaillons. Careful vineyard management is essential in this cool, marginal climate, where frost risk and slow ripening demand exact timing and measured decisions throughout the growing season.

Structure, Tension and Site Transparency

Domaine Moreau-Naudet works exclusively with Chardonnay and focuses on structure and energy rather than opulence. Harvest decisions are guided by freshness and phenolic balance, ensuring acidity remains precise and integrated.

Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts. Ageing is carried out in a combination of stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels. Oak is used with restraint and never dominates the wine. Lees ageing adds texture and quiet complexity while preserving linearity.

The wines are defined by citrus, green orchard fruit and pronounced mineral salinity. They show tension, depth and remarkable clarity. This is Chablis built on precision and authenticity, with the structure to perform confidently in a gastronomic setting.
