Il Marronetto

Tradition Above Montalcino

Il Marroneto is one of the most respected traditional estates of Brunello di Montalcino. The winery was founded in 1974 by Giuseppe Mori, who established the estate in a historic building just above the town of Montalcino. The name “Il Marroneto” refers to the chestnut treesthat once covered the surrounding hillsides.

Today the estate is led by Alessandro Mori, who has continued and refined the family philosophy of producing Brunello with precision and authenticity. The vineyards are located on the northern side of Montalcino, where cooler conditions allow Sangiovese to ripen slowly while maintaining freshness and aromatic clarity. The soils consist mainly of galestro and lime stone-rich clay, which contribute structure and minerality to the wines.

Classical Brunello with Purity

Il Marroneto works exclusively with Sangiovese for its Brunello wines, focusing on balance, elegance and longevity rather than power. Vineyard work is meticulous and yields are kept low in orderto achieve concentration while preserving natural acidity.

Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with long macerations that allow the wines to develop depth and structure. The wines are then aged in large Slavonian oak casks for several years, following a traditional approach that preserves the character of the fruit and the identity of the vineyard.

The wines are known for their remarkable purity and finesse. Aromas of red cherry, wild berries and dried flowers are supported by subtle notes of herbs and spice. Fine tannins and vibrant acidity give the wines precision and exceptional ageing potential. Il Marroneto produces Brunello that is both powerful and elegant, representing one of the most authentic expressions of Montalcino.
