Lokoya

Cabernet from Napa Valley’s Mountain Peaks

Lokoya was founded in 1995 with the ambition of capturing the distinct character of Napa Valley’s mountain vineyards. Rather than focusing on a single site, the project highlights several of the region’s most prestigious mountain appellations, including Howell Mountain, Mount Veeder, Spring Mountain and Diamond Mountain. Each of these sites offers a unique combination of altitude, soils and exposure.

Mountain vineyards in Napa Valley are known for their rugged terrain and well-drained volcanic soils. The elevation brings cooler temperatures and strong diurnal shifts, allowing grapes to ripen slowly while preserving structure and acidity. These conditions produce Cabernet Sauvignon with remarkable concentration, firm tannins and pronounced mineral character.

Single-Appellation Mountain Cabernet

Lokoya focuses exclusively on Cabernet Sauvignon, producing separate bottlings from each mountain appellation. Each vineyard area is vinified individually to highlight the distinctive character of its terroir.

Fermentation takes place in small lots to ensure precise extraction and careful management of each parcel. The wines are then aged in French oak barrels for extended periods, allowing them to develop depth, integration and complexity before release.

The wines are powerful yet refined. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum are layered with notes of graphite, cocoa and mountain herbs. On the palate they show dense fruit, structured tannins and remarkable length. Lokoya produces some of Napa Valley’s most iconic mountain Cabernet Sauvignons, known for their intensity, precision and extraordinary ageing potential.
