Bodegas Félix Callejo is a family estate located in Sotillo de la Ribera, in the heart of Ribera del Duero. The project was founded in 1989 by Félix Callejo, whose deep connection to the vineyards of the region dates back decades. Over time, the winery has grown into one of the most respected family producers in Ribera del Duero.Today the estate is run by the second generation of the Callejo family. Of the four children Beatriz and Cristina are responsible for the export. Noelia and Félix are responsible for the winemaking. With experiences at Pétrus and Eisele Vineyard they really know what they are doing.
The vineyards are situated at high altitudes between 830 and 930 meters above sea level. These elevated sites, combined with the region’s continental climate, allow the grapes to ripen slowly while preserving freshness and structure. The soils vary between limestone, clay and sandy compositions, giving each vineyard its own personality
The wines of Félix Callejo are built primarily around Tempranillo, known locally as Tinto Fino. Old vines play an important role in the character of the wines, producing fruit with concentration and natural balance. Small amounts of varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot may be used in certain cuvées to add complexity and structure.Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled tanks to preserve fruit purity and allow careful extraction.
The wines are then aged in French oak barrels, where they gain structure, depth and integration over time. The duration of ageing varies depending on the cuvée, with the most prestigious wines spending longer periods in barrel.The resulting wines show dark berries, plum and subtle spice, supported by firm yet polished tannins. Fresh acidity and mineral tension provide balance to the richness of the fruit. Bodegas Félix Callejo produces Ribera del Duero wines that combine power with elegance and express the character of their high-altitude vineyards.
